Gundies Finish off Round one
BCC 3 - 2 Albany
The Grundies soon found themselves one goal down as they struggled to adjust to the Riversdale surface. Team spokesman Dave Butt gave a detailed analysis on the differences between the pitch and the teams training environment. Albany continued their through ball method of attack but to no avail thanks to the Grundies latest signing, goalkeeper Jamie Mew. In his man of the match performance Jamie dominated his area in both open play and at set pieces.
The Grundies got back into the game with an own goal care of a well taken Lewthwaite corner only to concede a scrappy goal of their own to end the half 2-1 down. As the second half progressed, the BCC players started to string a few passes together and opportunities started to emerge. A foul on the younger Edwards brother drew a penalty, which Butt scored with finesse. After the match Luke ‘open on the wing’ Rutland said that the penalty was the turning point in the match and from there it was all Gundies. A lovely worked goal between the front pair of Edwards and Cooper completed the comeback and returned to the leagues top spot.

Wet weather too much
BCC 4 - 4 St Pauls
The uncharacteristically wet start to the season, has finally taken its toll with the BCC Grunides vs St Pauls clash deemed a 4-4 bonus point draw. This measure was taken in order to keep the rest of the gruelling season on track to complete in mid September. Fans will have to wait until round two to see this fixture again, unless they find themselves drawn against each other in the op coming CFA Cup.
Another hard fought stalemate for bcc
BCC 0 - 0 City FC
The anticipation was high as last years number one and two teams met for the first time in the 2011 season. Just like the recent Chelsea v Man Utd game, this encounter had the potential to shape the rest of the season for both teams.
Conditions weren’t ideal with both teams struggling against the wet and bobbly turf. After the match Captain Honore said he hadn’t known anything to be greasier than Mr Serepisos’s hair do until that day. The game produced very few chances with both teams defence holding strong. In the end a draw was a fair result.
Grundies management is thrilled with the performance of goalkeeping sensation Ken Diekema who picked up his second consecutive clean sheet and third consecutive opposition player of the day.

Kiwi encounter ends in goalless draw
BCC 0 - 0 Kiwi Men
A renewed Kiwi mens team showed that they were not all brawn with some fancy footwork and well worked triangles. BCC managed to hold their own in defence making Kiwi resort to shots from outside the box and allowing Diekema to demonstrate his aerial prowess. With the field surface not up to the usual Riversdale quality BCC chose to focus on the aerial game, but to no avail.
Apart from a Lewthwaite shot which caressed the upright near the conclusion of the encounter neither team looked like scoring the decisive goal and the game wound to a close with both teams retaining a clean sheet.

Opposition's Player Of The Day: Ken Diekema
Gundies make it two
BCC 2 - 1 Revolution FC
New comers to the league, Revolution FC, started off with pizzazz with a team warm up routine the likes of which haven’t been seen round these parts of the NZCFA competition for some years. They were young, fit, speedy, showed skill on the ball but in the end it was their lack of discipline that cost them the game.
BCC thought they would try out the ‘concede a goal then come back’ tactic that worked the previous week and indeed found themselves 1-0 down again. Revolution must have been thinking of the same tactic as they brought down the BCC attackers in the box twice to give BCC the two penalty opportunities they needed to get in front; and in front is where they stayed.
